The design for the Hello Kitty plush toy that comes as part of the fun pack for those taking part in Singapore's Hello Kitty Run has been revealed.

The Facebook page created for the run posted the design on Friday 12 September.

The plush toy will be dressed in a red track suit with a runner's bib.

Singapore's 5km-run on 1 November is part of the 40th birthday celebration for the Sanrio character.

Registration is ongoing but the website went down on Monday 8 September due to server problems.

Organisers say the website is "now stable" after a server upgrade.

Hello Kitty is hugely popular in Singapore, with fans often queueing and rushing for its limited edition merchandise.

Sanrio recently made news when it declared that the beloved cat is not a cat but a girl called Kitty White, causing amusement and confusion among its longtime followers.
