Police Officers Get Stuffed Animals |
|
Employees of PetSmart in New Hartford have given police early Christmas presents. Officers will in turn give the donated items to kids during emergencies. Eyewitness News reporter Nicole Todd stopped by the police station and has more.
Tonight the New Hartford Police Department loaded their cars with bags of all kinds of stuffed animals.
These stuffed animals will be kept in the trunks of all the New Hartford police cars. They will be used to help calm down the young children during their hard time.
And while officers weren't able to talk on camera about the donation, Sgt. Fontaine released a statement on behalf of the department, saying quote...
"It’s an opportunity for our officers to try to make a child who is either a victim of a crime or traumatic situation at ease and it's a way to build a relationship when interacting with them."
The New Hartford Police say they are thankful for the donations. And PetSmart has donated stuffed animals to the Utica Police Department too.
